Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse Houston (CALA) is a public education, legal watchdog group. Our purpose is to inform the public about balance, fairness and sensibility in our civil justice system. Founded in 1990, the CALA organization currently has chapters throughout Texas, numbering 25,000 supporters statewide.

We are not lobbyists or lawyer bashers. We do not endorse or support candidates. We simply strive to educate the public and raise awareness about the cost and consequence of real and potential abuses in our legal system.

CALA Houston has been a resource for more than 300 local, state and national news stories including NBC Nightly News, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Reader's Digest. Three years ago our executive director appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show in a program entitled "Has America Gone Lawsuit Crazy."
