For years, the Texas legal system has been the nation's lawsuit abuse poster child, our courts a "lawsuit lottery" that some are playing – and winning – at our expense. That's right – our expense. Because of junk lawsuits and lawsuit abuse, we pay more for everything we buy, every time we see a dentist or pay the rent. We all pay, and we all lose.

It doesn't end there.

Lawsuit abuse has driven doctors from underserved communities. It has kept life-saving products from the market and caused small business people to work in fear that even the wackiest of lawsuits will put an end to their life's work. Lawsuit abuse and junk lawsuits have left courts clogged, forcing people with legitimate lawsuits to wait longer for their day in court.

Lawsuit abuse makes us all victims.

At Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse (CALA), our job is to educate the public on the costs and consequences of lawsuit abuse. We believe in fairness, not greed. We believe in a system of justice, not a system controlled by greedd.
